About Us

Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families (ACA) New York Intergroup (ACANYIG) is a formally registered network with the ACA World Service Organization (WSO), supporting recovery for Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families in the New York area. With about 30 local meetings led by unpaid volunteers, we’re committed to helping ACA thrive across New York City and nearby.

Our primary role is to facilitate collaboration among member meetings. We do this by hosting events, workshops, and social gatherings for members. We holds monthly business meetings and send periodic emails to keep members informed and connected.

Each member group is encouraged to elect an Intergroup Rep and send them to the meetings - ensuring all voices are heard both casually and in key decisions. All ACA members are welcome to attend and participate. We practice a fully participatory and democratic governance structure. “Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.”

As part of the ACA structure, ACANYIG works by members, for members, dedicated to advancing our shared mission of healing and recovery.

We focus on solutions.

“The solution is to become your own loving parent.”

— ACA “The Solutions”

We foster service coming from love.
